Snow leopards are very rare. There are only 7,000 in
the world. They like the cold and live in the mountains
in Asia.
Snow leopards have very long tails - some are nearly a
metre long! They use their tails to balance on the
rocks. Their tails can also cover their mouths and
noses when it is very cold.
The usual weight of a snow leopard is around 45
kilograms. This is a little smaller than other types of
leopard but there are big variations. The smallest
female weighs only 25 kilos while the largest female
can be 75 kilos.
The diet of snow leopards is usually small animals like
rodents. But they can eat animals three times their
size.
The feet of snow leopards are big and furry. They make
good snow shoes!
